The Points North: We Have Opened Up!
Alternative content
The Points North's "We Have Opened Up!" is an expression of
appreciation for the band’s home of Boston, Mass. Returning home
from a two-month tour of Australia and dates at SXSW, songwriter
Chris North Alspach began to see his history-stained home city as an
incubator for personal renewal. "We Have Opened Up!" was partially
recorded at home in Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood, and
showcases the talents of Regina Peterson, whose flute and electric
guitar soar alongside each other. Drummer Dylan Clark’s rhythm —
lifted from the traditional song “Whiskey In The Jar” — booms through
the former Portland, Maine, church where drums were tracked. Chris
North Alspach’s voice sings of the endearing nature of the city’s streets
in winter, as well as the old Bostonians with “rivets for hearts,” to
complete a love letter from the band to their community.
