Hello friends! This is laura from the Woodrow Wilsons. Now that i’m in California for the winter, Jason and i have teamed up for a transcontinental experiment in long distance collaboration. i, in my new found isolation in the Californian wilderness, am going to spend the winter writing new songs and sending them to Jason, who will be adding layers as well as working all kinds of studio hocus pocus on my raw tracks.
Truthfully, i don’t understand all of the magic that happens on Jason’s end. i just know that i send him scrappy bits of song like this:

This song, Letters to an Unknown Address, is actually one that i wrote a very long time ago. Well, was 2004 a long time ago? i guess it was. i was living in Memphis at the time, waiting tables and tending bar in a New Orleans-themed seafood restaurant (sound hellish? kinda). i imagined that the letters i received from the outside came through a haze of forgetting who and where i was. i never really understood how i ended up there, or why i stayed.
We will be writing about and posting our songs as they happen. Please let us know what you think–
